Yellow or Orange
Hill Descent Control
Hill descent assist is active or unavailable.
This light indicates that your vehicle's Hill Descent Control system has detected a fault and is currently disabled. The system will not be able to automatically control your speed while driving down steep inclines until the issue is resolved.
What to do
- 01Check your owner manual to see if you accidentally pressed the system's off button.
- 02Cycle the ignition by turning the engine off and back on after a few minutes to see if the light resets.
- 03Drive carefully as you will need to manually manage your speed and braking on steep hills.
- 04Call us at Miles Tech Auto to schedule a diagnostic scan so we can identify the specific fault.
Other common causes
Common causes include a faulty wheel speed sensor, a malfunctioning brake light switch, an ABS control module communication error, or a damaged wire in the sensor harness.
How we check it
We perform a diagnostic scan to read trouble codes from the brake and chassis control modules.
Symbols vary by make and model — always confirm in your owner's manual. If the light is red, the car feels different, or the light is blinking, stop and call us before driving further.
