Oil Pressure

Engine oil pressure has dropped below a safe level.

Stop safely

This light indicates that your engine is not receiving enough oil pressure to keep internal components lubricated. It is one of the most critical warnings on your dashboard because a lack of pressure can cause permanent engine damage very quickly.

What to do

  1. 01Pull over to a safe location away from traffic immediately.
  2. 02Turn off your engine right away to prevent damage.
  3. 03Check your oil level using the dipstick if you feel comfortable.
  4. 04Call a tow truck to have your vehicle transported to our shop.

Other common causes

Low engine oil levels, a faulty oil pressure sensor, or a failing oil pump are common reasons this light may trigger.

How we check it

We perform a manual oil pressure test and inspect for leaks or internal component wear.

Symbols vary by make and model — always confirm in your owner's manual. If the light is red, the car feels different, or the light is blinking, stop and call us before driving further.
